The Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division, China Lake (NAWCWD CL), has entered into a patent license agreement with Integrated Consultants Inc. (ICI) allowing for the use of the Navy’s MOB Hub technology in ICI production.
The Multi-layered, Obstructed, and Brokered Hub (MOB Hub) allows for wireless or wired connection between tablets and electronics aboard military aircraft in a protected manner. This allows the tablet to exchange data with the aircraft mission computer and other connected systems.
ICI’s relationship with MOB Hub began in 2017, when the company was brought in to assist in the development of production from prototype quantities. ICI’s role in the MOB Hub design and implementation facilitated a transition into a licensing agreement.
“ICI has a history of successful fleet support over a variety of programs, so MOB Hub is the next step of ICI fielding new capabilities to support the fleet,” said ICI’s President and CEO David Aberizk, according to tecklinkcenter.org.
ICI has since made advancements in the MOB Hub technology by creating a similar model with strengthened reliability, called the Electronic Gated Aircraft Trust Enclosure (EGATE). A separate branch of the US military has already expressed interest in the utilization of EGATE for the purpose of reprogramming aircraft survivability equipment more efficiently than current methods allow.
Commercial implementations of the architecture are underway as well, with potential applications in warehouses equipped with automatic operation systems. Through ICI’s initiative, MOB Hub technology has never been more accessible.
